This orchestra is designed as a preparatory group for the Youth Symphony as well as being a fine youth orchestra in its own right. Literature is challenging and consists of a full orchestral repertoire for the developing musician.
This orchestra provides performance and training opportunities using challenging preparatory literature in small group, chamber and full orchestra settings. The Premiere Orchestra, along with the Sinfonette, offer our youngest musicians experience that prepares them for the full repertoire of the Junior and Youth symphonies.
The Cascade Sinfonette begins its fifteenth season in 2004, and since 1991 has included both strings and winds. Rehearsal and performance experience is provided in small group, chamber and full orchestra settings.
The Cascade Preparatory Strings group is for students who wish to prepare for entrance into the youth symphony program. This group is designed for string players that have at least one year of playing on their instrument but have little or no experience playing in an ensemble. The students will work on note reading and rhythm patterns in various meters and will spend time playing in parts and dividing into smaller groups to further develop confidence. The level of music will be similar to that of an elementary honor orchestra.
